Woman In the Gym Weight WorkoutSummer is upon us now. It’s a time to kick off your shoes and have a relaxing time  at the beach or pool side. Even though it’s a time for relaxation and sun bathing,  that doesn’t mean your  fitness routines need to be put on the back burner.

If  however you are still not involved in any workout program, this is the perfect season to start being active outside your work.
It’s about your health and overall well-being.

Summer time is a great time to customize a fitness routine to fit the weather. There are so many available options for staying in shape during the summer, ranging from walking in parks & beaches to working out in fitness centers. Here are just a few options that are available during the summer season.

  • Fitness Centers. This is usually the first option when looking to work out but it can be the best option during the summer. Most gyms offer air conditioning so the warmer weather won’t have any effect on how often you can work out. Many centers will offer some fun classes such as ballroom dancing or kick boxing, that will allow you to change up your routine.
Although fitness centers are a great option for working out, some people don’t want to be cooped up indoors when the weather is so nice. With weather that is so warm and sunny it’s a great chance to use some of the outdoor areas as a venue for staying up with your fitness routine.
  • City parks are a great way to get out enjoy the weather and get some exercise. There are plenty of areas to walk around in. Walking is a great cardio workout that can be done while enjoying the weather. Some parks offer walking trails that will give the walker some very pretty scenes and the ability to join the weather.
  • Beach walking is another great work out. The sand actually offers a bit of resistance that makes the walk a bit of a challenge. While lounging out in the sun, get up and walk around for 15 minutes. This allows you to enjoy the water, sun and get up and moving.
A simple walk every time you head to the beach will make a major difference in your summer.
  • Another option for staying fit during the summer is to get out and play some summer games. There are a lot of volleyball, beach volleyball, frisbee, and other type of games that are enjoyed throughout the summer. These games allow everyone to enjoy the nice weather while having a lot of fun at the same time.

Summer is the perfect opportunity to workout many parts of your body with less warm-up time. Your muscles are less stiff, you can burn up more calories in a nick of time.  Don’t forget to hydrate yourself more to “keep your body happy”.

My husband and I are starting a 30 minutes walk in the evenings between 6pm and 7pm while there’s still daylight in sunny California. I am also going to start a 10 miles bike ride on the week-end while my hubby is jogging along.

Just like some of you, we’ve been planning and talking about it for a few months now. It’s just about time for quick-off. It’s all about gain of better health. The only pain is the regret of letting yourself down by not taking care of your well-being.

No pain and a whole lot of gain.

Get out and enjoy the nice weather while having fun and keeping up with your fitness routine. Relax, have fun and remember when you’re having such a good time it won’t feel like a workout!
